An estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer will occur among women in the United States during 2009 and an estimated 40,170 women will die from breast cancer. These are scary statistics. Along with the reduced mammogram fees, they gave away more than 100 FREE Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirts, gift bags and other Breast Cancer Awareness promotional items.

In addition, for each of the past three years they have designed a custom t-shirt they sell at events throughout the county, with proceeds being donated to breast cancer foundations. They also sponsor a team in the Susan G. Komen annual walk where they have a booth selling promotional items with those proceeds being donated as well. They promote breast cancer education all year long with messages in the media, posters at doctor offices and handouts to patients at their facility. All of this coupled with the reduced cost of mammograms equals literally thousands of dollars in sponsorship of breast cancer education, prevention and research.

And they are one of the few imaging facilities in Fort Pierce to offer Digital Mammography which is the latest approach for obtaining mammographic images. It uses less radiation, provides a higher sensitivity to abnormalities and minimizes exam time. It's also been determined to be more beneficial for women 50 or younger, for women with dense breasts, or for women who have to have frequent tests. Windsor Imaging even went the extra mile and purchased a computer-aided detection device, or CAD, which red flags any areas that require additional scrutiny by the radiologist.
